The Merriest of Holidays

With the little decorated tree glowing in our little corner of the salon and the interior mast pole wrapped with green garland, we celebrate this special holiday.  It is not the same without our family and our old friends, though.  We miss throwing our annual holiday party, attending holiday gatherings with friends, and taking in the local holiday cheer.  You can say we are a little homesick.  It’s obviously not the same for us as we have not had two years of holidays without family.  We did make beautiful friends since we arrived in Mexico; all of whom have become very dear to us. We remember last year’s Christmas in La Cruz when we had a lovely dinner on the eve of Christmas with great cruising friends Kevin and Gina of SV Raven, and Rolf and Diana from SV Starfire.  This season we were a bit distracted with what our Christmas would look like.  Then Kevin and Gina said they would be in La Paz, and it became a no brainer where we were heading.

With the vaccinations for COVID-19 at the forefront of the news and everyone’s thoughts, we would like to touch lightly about Vaccines in Mexico and if it will affect us.  According to the Associated Press“Mexico plans to begin vaccinating its people against COVID-19 at the end of the third week of December, starting with health workers.”  This reflects closely to what the US has planned. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said the vaccines will be “universal and free” — and also voluntary — and he hopes the full population will be vaccinated by the end of 2021. Obviously, as folks become vaccinated and time plays its course, we all become safer; we are very appreciative of this.  However, to answer that question you have, we will get our vaccinations in the US when we come home next summer.

One a lighter and loving note – Chris and I have some holiday wishes for you. And to sum those up … we are sending each of you love and lightness with you and yours, wishes of good health for all, and trust that all will be all right again. From our hearts to yours, have yourself a Very Merry holiday. Hug a little deeper, Kiss a little longer, embrace the Peace in your heart, and may your Smile be contagious.

Here’s to a 2021 filled with following breezes, a gentle rolling swell, the sun on your back, a tuna on the hook, and a pod of dolphins to say hello.

Fair Winds !

Feliz Vacaciones,

Chris and Carrie
